How true.

As our nice day on Saturday allowed me to get the rattle can out, I've been able to move the A2/2 on a little. If we all had severely defective red-green colour vision it would now appear to need only lining, lettering a minor final titivation....
I've also had a go at adding most of the missing details to Garage Hobbit's resin tender body. The fittings on the front are cobbled together from wire, tube, and a couple of handrail knobs. The rear lamp irons are merely bent pieces of staple - I was going to make them a bit more detailed but motivation failed at that point.

Anybody impatient wanting an O2 by the way? I'm not the seller of this one:

One of the many hideous temporary bodges that have appeared on locos for trial-running purposes whilst in my "works"......

Looking rather purposeful and handsome there Graeme. Do I detect some work on the buffers in particular going on at the front end?

G'Day Gents

I don't think you could call that an atrocity, it's turned out very well, although the colour, makes me think of a cash strapped LMS.

It would seem that some folks out there don't know what primer is for

Had I done it in grey primer would we now have speculation about the finish being A4 style silver grey?

Kean-Maygib Spencer buffers partly fitted. Although previously assembled and adjusted, I've taken out the heads and internals until the paintwork is finished. Fewer awkward bits to mask or to clean up after painting. I'll add the front steps at a fairly late stage too, hoping that this will minimise the risk of breakage.

Hi Atlantic

It looks very nice, to say the least. If I find myself in the same place as the model, DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK!!!

A small matter, pretty historic from your perspective, and no doubt I'm well behind the field in having noticed this.

The "reach rod" (is that the right expression?) for the reversing system in the Bachmann O4 appears to be incorrect for the O4/8 conversion, since it extends only to just forward of the third coupled axle. All RHS photos of O4/8s which I have show this extending to just ahead of the SECOND coupled axle. Indeed, the same is true of the original O4s, in which even a dead side-on view of one in GC livery (in LocoProfile No 21, page 195) shows exactly the same characteristic.

Just had a quick look at my Yeadons and I think that the Bachmann O4 is wrong for all variants. The reach rod is not long enough on the one I have anyway which is of course the model of the preserved example.
