A Drawing and/or a Diagram no for this coach.
Diagram 212, There's a drawing in Historic Carriage Drawings Vol 1 by Campling, but check the drawing against photos, see notes about the end steps above.
Details of livery, my period of interest is c1952 ( at present one end is brown and the other black, maybe I was hedging bets back in 1975!)
Brown, black ends
My coach has no ventilators on the clerestory sides, can anyone help with details.
There were no ventilators on the clerestory sides. There was a plate set at a slight angle above each door which covered the clerestory vents.

In my efforts to build up my background information on this coach, I have now found a photo on line part of the Paul Bartlett Collection which shows what I think is this coach entitled "E69470 GER Clerestory non-corridor lav comp". The view is probably after withdrawal (broken windows) but shows bogie foot steps and gas/elec end switch bar still there. Battery boxes are there so clearly the coach had elec lighting. My query is regarding a substantial pipe running along the length of solebar just below the running board which then appears to turn under the buffer beam. What is this pipe for? Would there also be one on the other side? What other photos are there of Dia212 coaches? Sorry to be a pain but my new found enthusiasm is in overdrive! By the way, I'm living in Cyprus where there is almost no railway history and seemingly no model shops or fellow modellers.
Thanks for any feedback

Vacuum brake pipe, you can see the connection to the brake cylinder
Would there also be one on the other side?
No

Seems to have been a while since I updated. I've had to move on to some more portable projects while travelling again. Anyway, here is where we are with what's on (or just off) the WB at the moment. The GE coach still isn't quite finished; after I'd added the pipe runs which Boeing757 had pointed out (both my photos were beside a platform) I had to make good the roof/clerestory join (memo to self - don't clog the holes up with roof mixture next time) and then it took a dive off where it was drying and fell down the back of the water tank, sustaining some damage when recovered. This week should see it done, though.

The picture Boeing referred to, incidentally, is at http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/lnerco ... #h10ba76b6

The Sentinel is about complete and just needs coal and a crew - who are drying in the airing cupboard as we speak. I added the very prominent guard irons and blacked the wheels. I can see that the front pulley of the BullAnt and the flywheel will need blacking as well. It's haulage capacity is impressive for what looks a very small power unit.

Image

The coal wagons for Corfe are also done and the loads for them are under way. The different names are due to my inability to remember two initials for more than (apparently) a couple of days.

A couple of blasts from the past: I must have finished these shortly before we moved house in 2006 as they've never been weathered and I'd forgotten I even had them. They turned up in a box over the weekend. One on the left is a Genesis LNER open, the other is (I think) the GC gunpowder van from 51L. They can go into the next weathering batch now they've seen the light again.

Image

Finally the next project up and intended to be done for York; SBAFB (Belgian) Hcf ferry vans. These are a resin casting by Jon Hall which I'm backdating from his 1970s version. I have 6 to do: this one has had almost all the side detailing done so I can get an impression of how it looks and experiment with some of the bits I have to make up.

Is it my eyesight or does the Sentinel look to have an opening side window? Either way it looks excellent. I look forward to seeing the Ferry van complete. These are fast becoming your signature vehicle :)

Cheers, Rob. No, it doesn't open - the Krystal Klear has pulled to the inside of the frame and left a gap. A drop more ought to fill it up.

Ferry vans have become a bit of a hobby in themselves, but they're a fascinating study in miniature and I haven't filled a road in the Thurston fiddle yard yet. I may have to stop once we get that far.

Hi everyone, back to the Lav Compo for a moment, does anyone have a drawing they could share with me showing the truss/ dynamo /battery boxes and brake gear Or details of where I can purchase one?
Also how do you replicate the obscured glass in the lav window?
Thanks as always, by the way the images of the K2 were absolutely stunning.

For "plain" obscured coach windows I generally just paint the inside face of the galzing an even white or light grey. Others may have different methods. For etched/engraved WC windows on some GC coaches I made by hand a large copy of the GC crest on paper, shaded in pencil, and then scanned/reduced it to coach window size and printed off several to fix in place behind the clear glazing.
Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

I use white paint . Others use Poly cement and wet and dry paper to give a "frosted" finish

Thanks for the replies, can anyone help with the drawing or at least give me the dimensions of the truss?

Thanks, but what I was after was height of the kingposts and their spacing, my fault should have asked the right question!!
