No, you're right, but its been so long since I was on the line that I couldn't quite place where the branch occurred. This is my excuse for saying north of KX.

When looking at my original post I now realise how daft that phrase was. Thank the lord that I at least gave Hertford as another clue.

Go for it - I've always thought a nice longish layout of just a long straight with only a siding or two visible (perhaps a signal box/small country station?) would be a nice thing simply to watch trains go by.

(Plus, you can be fairly flexible if you don't mind non-LNER areas - pretty much any stock can be run, providing the station/signal-box are relatively nondescript)
