LNER Coronation coaches

Post by Kestrel »

These now seem to be available if you ordered them two years ago for a total of £502.95.

Hornby's website shows them as now 'out of stock' or 'unavailable' with yet another price hike, up to £681.95.

That's an overall increase of £179.00

My friendly local shop says he can only take 10% off £681.95. I wouldn't expect anything else. So back to Hornby it is if you ordered them in 2022 and pay £502.95.

yep, £502 is what i will be paying, whilst the 4 pairs are in the warehouse the obs car is not yet about . only reason I know is that the card i had set up to pay for them has expired so they have been asking for a new payment source. to be fair it's cheaper than I could build them for if i included my time as I do quite a bit of model making as a secondary business.

I've just been looking at a set which has been delivered in Australia. The do look very good and for an 8 car set I have to say the initial price is not excessive.

I agree Jonathan, I was quite happy with the price I paid, around the $260 AUD mark for each twin. I think that’s quite fair considering the amount of detail that’s gone into the artic design, interiors and all the steel numbering/lettering.

Jesse,

You don't have to ask anyone to build a mailcoach version, that is a blessing. They might be busy anyway.

I have not seen them yet, but I am sure the finish is way beyond most modellers' skills.

I hope to see video of a set at Woolmer Green.

Cheers,

John

Mr DPD man dropped off a parcel today with four boxes inside, each one containing a pair of Coronation coaches. They are a true work of art. It seems a shame to take them out of their boxes. Now the wait for the observation car.
