Anyone bound for the NEC next weekend?
Fantastic show but highly dangerous to the wallet!

Re: NEC
Not this year I'm afraid, and for two reasons
1 - I was in Coventry last weekend, so 2 weekends on the trot driving from South Essex to the Midlands is a bit much for me!
2 - It clashes with the Shoeburyness Model Railway Club's show in Southend, which is also this weekend! May be bad planning on someones part, but Southend is closer to me, and I used to be a memeber of the club years ago, and it is always a good time to catch up with old friends!

The Shoeburyness show is actually being held at the Southend Leisure and Tennis centre - here is a link to the clubs site, which gives all the details you will need to get there!

I am planning to be there Sunday!
My first (and so far only) visit to the NEC show was a couple of years ago - I was horrified that I had to pay even to park, before paying to get in. Although the show was overwhelming with the sheer amount of layouts, displays, traders and exhibits, I found it almost a little too large for a day - and it was SOOOO blooming crowded - I could hardly see a lot of what was there!

Re: NEC
So did anyone go to the NEC show - and, if so, what was it like?
I went to the Shoeburyness MRC show on Sunday - and was very slightly dissapointed. I model in N-Gauge, and there were very few layouts in that gauge, and those that were didn't impress me that much either. Also, there was at least one trader there last year (whose name I can't unfortunately remember!) who had a good selection of N and Z gauge. I spent a fair bit of money with them last year and was looking forward to seeing them again this year - but they weren't there!! However, apart from that, it wan't all bad - and I got the chance to meet up with a few old friends too, so all in all it was a good day!

Re: NEC
The word on the ngauge listserver seems to be that Warley was a little disappointing.
No surprise announcements, delays on Dapol items like the DVT, etc.

Re: NEC
Hi Everyone. I'm new to this forum, but just letting you know I was at the NEC. I hadn't been to it in about 5 years, so i can't say for certain, but I remember it being better in the past than it was this year. I went mainly shopping for items to build a Mailcoach Silver Jubilee Set (the discontinued clear sided set), which I managed to obtain off ebay, after years of trying. I didn't even get all the stuff I wanted for that. Layouts were good but nothing special. No LNER ones that I saw (no copenhagen fields or Gresley Beat). There were some O gauge LNER stock running on a Layout with A3's and A4's which looked good but that was the only LNER items which I saw running. I may have missed some things though as I was mainly interested in shoppping.
