Hi All,
Went to the 1940s weekend at NYMR on Sunday and SNG was running again (beautifully, too!).
On the return journey from Grosmont, we decided to get off at Goathland and low and behold this is what we saw.

Sfter she gave the train a good shove off, she continued up to the water crane then went back to Grosmont to haul up the last train. Great day - loads in period dress and uniform - well worth the visit.

Although I admire the amount of work that goes into them in my purely personal opinion I can't help thinking that these NYMR WW2 weekends are a bit, well,
sad, really. Why don't they try a Jarrow Crusade weekend, or a General Strike weekend (trains driven by students in tweed plus-fours, and you have to push through a picket line to buy a ticket)?
Still, the opportunity to see SNG in steam is well worth taking. Here are a couple of shots I took at the steam gala weekend, a few days before 1944:
That BR Express Blue livery really suits her - much better than wartime black ever would, I think.

I agree, the colour scheme is superb.
