New PH Groom Photographs
With the help of Dennis Butler, I have secured about 40 photographs of LNER locomotives from the collection of Peter Groom. It is going to take a few weeks to get them all added to the site, but it will be worth it. Generally they are from the 1950s and 1960s, and are of a higher quality than most of the black & white photographs that I have already. Some will replace previous photos, whilst others will be added in addition to existing photos.
If anyone is interested in Peter's photographs, please write to him at:
P.H. Groom,
7 Trafalgar Avenue,
Broxbourne
EN10 7DX
UK
Ask for his extensive list that covers all regions (LNER, LMS, GWR, and SR).
This morning I have added or replaced photos on the following pages:
ex-LNER DES1 0-6-0 diesel
ex-GER Y4 0-4-0T
ex-NBR 'Scottish Pug' Y9 0-4-0ST
ex-LNER V1 2-6-2T
ex-LNER 'Bantam Cock' Class V4 2-6-2
I'll be adding photos in batches over the next week or so, and will post each set of updates to this thread.
Thanks Peter and Dennis!

I like the photo of the Y9 - lots of character. Also being from the 60s, the picture is much better than the earlier one that looked like it could have come from 1900!
I've just added photos for the coupled-eights:
Thompson Q1 0-8-0T - new replacement photo of a Q1/2
Raven Q6 0-8-0 - new photo
Austerity WD O7 2-8-0 - replacement photo of a BR-era O7
Gresley O2 2-8-0 - new photo of a O2/2
Robinson O4 2-8-0 - new replacement photos of a O4/7 and a O4/8
In the past few days we've had a couple of new forum members ask about the O4 RODs, so I hope they like the new photos!

Blue Peter
Richard the new photo's are great. Blue Peter had a mishap in the early seventies & the Loco was on its side. I remember having the Blue Peter anual for that year & it had a large article about the Loco plus some pictures of it with John Noakes & Peter Purves.

Yes I remember seeing a picture of Blue Peter with its feet in the air somewhere long ago - a viewer might have sent it in to the programme during the early/mid 1980s?
I thought the accident was earlier than the 70s though - perhaps the early 60s or even 1950s?

Is this a new trend? Resurrecting 7 year old threads?
