Been absent from these pages for a while and was looking back at photos of the tracklesses in Doggy at Smeaton St with Wilf Hewitsons garage and the road off to Claggy Foot station and just on the horizon the works engine line crossed the road to Stevenson St to the timber yard from between Rundles Washer Works and Warners--their engines Paula-Louise-Bessie and the diesel but forgot its name infact I never saw it ever move. used to go upstairs in the trackless to see over the top of the slag walls at the werks. It was a novelty having double deckers just after the war but those wooden seats !! I don't think health and safety would allow it now. I think the pub on the right was the Mucky Duck I liked to play there during the war as Jeff had a Hornby electric train set, mine was only a clockwork flying Scotsman.
