In 2007 I had the rare chance (at least for me) to see sole surviving V2 No. 4771 'Green Arrow' running at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. At the time she hadn't got long left on her boiler certificate. A very elegant machine which I am disappointed that I didn't get a chance to see more of.
http://khardy.zenfolio.com/p304637631 - This gallery is taken from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire's Festival of steam event in June 2007. 4771 was of course the star of the show with 3 other visitors, 34007 'Wadebridge', SDJR 7F No. 88 & Saddle Tank No. 813 plus the residents. 4771 certainly made an interesting lineup in the final shot alongside 813!
http://khardy.zenfolio.com/p177254586 - In August 2007 the GWSR celebrated 4771's last weekend at the line with a special 'NRM' day. She ran alongside NRM stablemate No. 3440 'City of Truro' which has of course met the same fate with both now static at York. This was the last time I saw 4771 in steam.
One wonders if the NRM will ever let either locomotive steam again.
Cheers,
GWSR 2007 with 4771.
