G'day Gents
I can't be absolutely sure, but I think it's what became a D5 in LNER days.

I would say the loco is a class 11A (D6) and the photo was taken between about 1908 and 1913.

thanks manna, that was my thinking but, Ithink Bill has got it right, the D5,s only appeared on the CLC in the 20,s the D6,s on the otherhand were transfered to the CLC from 1902 onwards, since posting the photo I have identified the photographer, a local man who died in the 20,s, A. Hall who was a competitor of F. Frith and was active from the 1890,s to about the first world war, his output was prolific. anything, anyone anywhere. Occassionaly his postcards appear on e-bay, whats left, his glass plate negatives no longer exist, his wife smashed everyone after his death in the early 20,s
its said there were more than 30 boxes of them, hundreds and hundreds what a waste
she,s not the first wife I know who destroyed their husbands collections
