In the Locomotives section of this forum, the Pollitt class 11A (LNER D6) are reported as hauling military trains from Liverpool down the London Extension, double headed, carrying newly arrived US Troops on their way to the battle front.

Quote: "Whilst based in the Cheshire area, the D6s still occasionally ran further afield. For example during 1918, they ran in pairs hauling American troop trains from Liverpool to Marylebone. It is thought that these troop trains were the last time that D6s were seen on the London Extension."

In the 3rd instalment of John Snows Locomotion trilogy on BBC 2 being broadcast tonight at 7.00 p.m. and then subsequently accessible on BBC iPlayer, there is a brief clip depicting two D6s heading an express composed of 6 wheelers which is described as a military train. Possibly the one of those referred to above.

It can be seen in the following 2 minute clip: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01qh3z3

Does anybody know where the BBC found this gem and is there any more footage like it? I have already searched Pathe News.
