I've been scanning some of Dad's old photos, so far I've done half of one album with 6 more to go!
In due course all the good images will be put in sets on flickr.
For now I am putting small numbers on flickr as samples of what is to come.
The current batch are of Cambridge, Whitemoor and Nottingham Victoria around 1948 to 50.
They can be found at:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/
They are also in the relevant sets which can be found from my photostream page (look in Daves Railway Archive and Daves East Midlands and Lincs Railway Archive).
By the way, he was not trespassing, he had track permits for most areas he visited.

As is the photo of the D3 at Nottingham Victoria.
It has the early BR crest on the tender, so I wonder if it is a little later than 1948?
The signal in the background is lovely.

I now think it is more likely to be 1950.

Superb stuff David. I think this photo......

........answers one of the questions deep in the Grantham thread, namely which kind of wagon was used prior to the introduction of the BR 27t tipplers.

The B1 being re-railed is a fascinating time capsule. I'm looking at the details and it's clear it's an NBL B1, with the full LNER red lined black livery (no smokebox door numberplate or number on the bufferbeam so it must be in LNER branding still). The jack itself and how they are doing it is an eye opener. People just got on with it in days gone by I suspect.

The Lincs photos bring back many memories, and the Sutton On Sea shot
