Yes, some fascinating pics on that Flickr site for anyone tired of Gresley Pacifics. Frustrated at lack of detail on some of the locations, though.

In scanning, annotating and uploading the 184 photos in the Beckerlegge Collection, I used every scrap of information that I could glean from the prints/postcards. All the details were cross-checked with the LNER Encyclopaedia and additional data added from that source. Subsequent to their 'publication' on Flickr I received additional information, notably from John Law, that was added when it came to my notice. I am very happy to upgrade the information in the descriptions or it can be done by using the 'comment' panels on the Flickr page.
Whether the files of the photographers or publisher, e.g. W.H.Whitworth or the Locomotive Publishing Company, are still in existence and contain additional information I haven't a clue.
My aim in uploading these photos and the rest that I inherited from Dad was to share something I was lucky to have and not let them gather dust. I have not been able to add much to the LNER photos myself, as, despite there being photo of me in 1951, or thereabouts, looking out of the cab of 64855 at Harrogate, my interests lie further south and west, having grown up in Somerset.
Please do not get frustrated by the limitations - just enjoy them!

I can't comment on the original post as I've yet to go through the collections - looking forward to it. Sorry for the confusion.

Meanwhile the strang steel link remains well worth a look for the rare types depicted.

Philipjohn and strang steel - re copyright. The LPC collection was absorbed by Ian Allan with the LPC itself but many of the negs were in themselves ripped off from officials etc. They then were transferred to Real Photos at Broadstairs who printed copies for some years in addition to their own collections made up mainly from Whitworth and Gordon Tidey negatives.

When Stanley Rhodes (Real Photos) retired the collections together with the Loco & General which he also printed were transferred en mass to York and are now under the auspices of the NRM Collections. If you have a reference, you should still be able to get copies but beware because they are now Crown Copyright, not to mention expensive!

I was one of team who produced postcards from the LPC collection in the late 60s/ eary 70s and helped to transport the negatives (mainly glass and up to 15x12) to Broadstairs in about 1975. I don't think that the NRM publish any lists but I have most of the original negative numbers for all these collections if anyone is searching for a particular photo.

Peppercorn A1 No 60127 (un-named) later 'Wilson Wordsell' at Kings Cross 1949
