Evening gents

Would anyone have any pictures of this particular D49 in the 1958-1959 period.

I'm interested in her, as it seems she was the only D49 left at York when the rest emigrated to Starbeck and other places.

Cheers

Tom

It was at York from Nov 58 to Jun 59.

Selby from Jun 59 to Sep 59 when the shed closed.

It then moved to Hull Dairycoates until its withdrawal in Jul 60.

There is a photo of 62740 at Harrogate station in-

Station Masters Reflections-Images of Railway Life 1954-1964 by David Holmes.

Thankyou 50c, what year would that have been taken out of interest?

Cheers

Sorry Tom I can't answer that as the book was borrowed from a Cheshire library in 2006 and I am now living down in Surrey.

Tom,
I have a photograph of "Bedale" taken at Beverley C.1960.
I was at school in Beverley in those days and used to visit the station on long summer evenings. DMUs had more or less taken over but there was a Hull to Beverley steam working about 7.45pm with I believe an inward working to Hull about 6.pm. This photograph is facing Hull so it could be the inward working, or if during the summer timetable this could be a Scarborough train. I do not recall D.49s ever on the 7.45 so I tend to think it was a Scarborough train rather than a York train being worked by Bedale as a York based locomotive. However Bedale it is. You are welcome to a copy. Quite how we go about that I am not sure. As I am new to this forum, and I do mean new, about ten minutes ago, I do not yet know how anything works. I have scanned my original and can send it by e-mail. I may well make it public in due course but I do not think that will provide you with the best result?
