Neil - attempts at a couple of the locations:
60038 Firdaussi on the Thames Clyde Express unknown location
http://www.steamlocomotives.photos.gb.n ... 19601.html
Glasgow St Enoch I think
60054 Manna unknown location
http://www.steamlocomotives.photos.gb.n ... 19600.html -
same spot as 60014 in A4s pt 1 (orig id'd as 60004:

I agree with 61070 re Firdaussi, Glasgow St. Enoch.
The pictures identified as 60054 Manna - that is either 60054 or it is Manna, it can't be both because 60054 was Prince of Wales.
60059 Trascery unknown location, looks like an up train coming under a bridge I stood on many times, about 1/4 mile south of Greenwood Box. The location is often called ' Hadley Woods' but the station is between the two Hadoley tunnels and this spot is before them.

In a way, both are, but that refernce table is a bit misleading. 60054 was never called Manna in BR numbering. The first name carried by the engine when it was built as LNER A1 no. 2553 was Manna, but it was very soon renamed Prince of Wales. I think the name Manna was only carried for a few months in about 1925 or 1926 and was changed to mark a visit by the PoW to Doncaster Works or somewhere on the LNER system. The name Manna was later given to another engine which became BR 60085. So if the picture shows 60054 then it is not Manna, and likewise if the picture shows Manna then it is not 60054.
Picture ref 19612 Galtee More, that could be a down train approaching Hadley South tunnel and just passing the spot where Greenwood Box used to be before the line was widened to 4 tracks in the mid-1950s.

Diamond Jubilee possibly on the down main coming away from New Barnet into Hadley Woods?
Re. Centenary at WGC, note also the back of the northbound local turning out onto the down main for the two track section over Digswell Viaduct and on to Woolmer Green.

Was the "slow line" north designated a goods line, so that all passenger trains would be turned out? Presumably this would allow goods trains to "queue up" in the section on the approach to Digswell, to wait for their path through the double track?

That was my first thought based on the curve, but I don't think it's right for New Barnet. Looks a bit too countrified and if it was New Barnet the gasworks should be visible on the left hand side of the curve.

Good question, chaz. Maybe some of our ex-employee members might have the answer to that one. I don't know if it was actually "designated" as such, but it seems an entirely reasonable use for that stretch of the down slow.

Yes, true enough, Flamingo. I dove in too quickly on that one. On viewing the photo at 200% there seems to be a small station or something to the right rear of the train. So I'm stumped.
