Doing what she was built for. No idea of train or location. Possibly York.

Nice photo. It's carrying rather more dirt in your picture. I would have guessed Doncaster as the location, but I'm sure a forum member can pin it down for us.

Relative positions of platforms and pointwork strongly suggest Doncaster to me.

Date of photo post 1958 suggested by the AWS pick up equipment and Yeadon. As others have said I would plump for Doncaster. I wonder if she might be on the K/X V2 York lodging turn. Rather grubby for a 34A V2, as the shed usually tried to keep them reasonably clean, though the weather doesn't help.

Today's snap is another shot from Green Arrow's visit to Eastleigh. It's standing in front of Eastleigh works having run light engine from Southampton. It used the loop that runs around the works to turn.

I don't know the full details of the special's route. It came down the mainline from the Waterloo direction late morning. In the evening it took the Romsey line away from Eastleigh.

For giner V2s with patina, 60865 is seen at Tweedmouth opposite Tweedmouth south box and with standard 2MT 78025 outside the 4 road straight shed, I dont know where DLI or 4798 is. No doubt Tom Tank will like the difference between the two views of 865 in the first view shes well weathered. I would say that the clean shot of 865 was before Tweedmouth got Pacifics and she was on East Coast Standing Pilot Duties. A job that dated back to the commencement of the non stop trains where at strategic locations on the ECML a decent sized loco would be stationed waiting to cover failures. A pre war thunderbird.

52D: I'm intrigued by the little wooden shed on the main shed roof. Any idea what was for? It's painted a really odd looking combination of colours.

Ive often wondered that myself. Tweedmouth seemed to have more than its fair share of light blue paint. I dont think the Shearlegs were in this shed so its not access to them or an overhead crane. No doubt 52A will be able to offer an explanation.

Whilst this post is about Green Arrow do we have any pictures of Green Arrow on the Green Arrow. For you youngsters out there the Green Arrow was the title of a crack LNER goods train and Green Arrow was named after it so like the Flying Scotsman if your granda drove the Green Arrow was it the train or the loco.

Thanks for those pics, 52D. They look 'the business' there, alright. The blue shed on the roof, at first I wondered if it was a 'high'-class khazi, but it could have been where they kept the cleaning rags - well out of reach.

Nice to see some V2 pictures showing them in service.

My snap for today taken at Rothley. Not sure about that headboard - did a V2 ever head The Elizabethan? OK - the LNER liveried engine is an anchronism on the front of the rake of blood and custard Mk 1s - but it is a very attractive combination. What a shame BR chose Swindon over Doncaster when it chose a loco green.

Yes i know Chaz thats the size ive got them, I only posted the small one really to show the difference in cleaning. Ive got another of 836 on Tweedmouths Table to post when i figure out how to compress it and two together at Berwick when i find it.
Nice to see a V2 on the Southern as some were actually loaned to the Southern with some B1s to cover failures on the MN/BB/WC classes.
