Thanks for the nudge in the right direction-some cracking shots on there. My own favourite is 55002,not only because it was named after our local regiment, but it was the only one i "cabbed"!It's also been receiving some attention (not before time) at the NRM.

Just looked at pic 22. Everything is right about that pic all maroon coaching stock and the deltic itself is in the colours that are my personal favourite two tone green, small yellow front end, and white cab surround.
I can just hear it now.

G'Day Gents
Certainly a powerful loco the old Deltic's, and if you had two engines running, left the brakes on, opened the throttle, to full bore and let them build up a bit of power, when you released the brake's, you would slide you UP the back of the seat, you could if you were not careful take your foot off the deadman???
I have shunted coaches at Hornsey Carriage sidings with a Deltic, not the ideal choice of loco, someone once said to me about the Deltic's ' whisper there name with reverance' I said why, no one will ever hear you!! You always had to shout, whenever they were near you.

Did D9002 carry a tops number when in two tone green livery before the repaint to Rail blue? I cant seem to remember if it did.

No, they all went blue long, long before TOPS renumbering. Napier Chronicles record that D9002 was the first of the class to go rail blue, in 1966. It lost its 'D' in 1968 and became 55002 in 1973.

I love the two-tone green that our dear Deltics wore, but imagine if they'd carried the colours of DELTIC?
