I just wanted to thank everyone for all the responses to the photographs I have posted.
I never imagined the debates and discussions some of them have spawned, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of them. Keep the comments coming. I for one really appreciate them. In fact, I have posted a suggestion that a separate index be made for photographs, but I realise that this may be difficult as there would be a lot of crossover.

Anyway, thanks again. I hope everyone likes the pictures.

If I find any more, does everyone want me to continue posting?

Malcolm

Keep them coming, they are great. The more LNER (exGER) the better if you ask me. Have you got any of the old CVR?? Many thanks to you.

Sorry, I personally don't have any images of the CVR,
BUT,
if you go here there are some really good (and old) ones.
Just follow the links for all the stations.

Thank you all again for your many messages expressing appreciation for the photos I post.
I was a bit worried at first that I might be accused of hogging the boards, so to speak.
I have been a railway fan all my life (worked there too), and have been collecting photos and documents for many years. I love doing the research and used this site for a long time to help me catalogue all the files. After joining the forum I decided to help the administrator by offering images of locos (as you know) because I firmly believe that these are historical records that should be made available to everyone for free (modellers and historians alike). Recently, because of personal/health reasons, I have had more time to spend on this, which is why I have put up so much stuff. I must also say that I have received so much help in the form of articles, photos, maps, etc., from other members of this forum (and many others around the world), all given freely and gladly. It does my heart good to think that others feel the way I do.

We should all do our utmost to preserve as much of history as possible, as there is so much this mundane and cruel world in which we live has allowed to disappear or fall into neglect (either that or charge huge sums of money).

At present I have over 5,000 images, diagrams, maps and postcards in my collection, and if anyone wants a copy of anything (if I have it), then they are more than welcome (if it is not under a cast iron copyright agreement), free of charge...no acknowledgement necessary.

This forum is fantastic reading in the evenings and I have learnt so much from you all.

As 52A used to say when we worked together:

"Nil illegitimus carborundum" (Don't let the ba*****s grind you down).

Malcolm.

Yes, but if it's in the Latin plural shouldn't that read 'illegitimi'?

The forum will be a lot less interesting if you stop, and hoping you will keep up the good work.

Just trying to broaden things out a bit.
Got a couple more to post today, then probably quiet for a while. The holidays are over here in Japan and it's back to normal (well....... what passes for normal over here).
See LNER Discussion for more.
