By pure coincidence I'm in Edinburgh on holiday this week and dragged my wife down to Princes St last night to see 60009 come through light with support coach en route Thornton to Shildon. Around 10pm just as the light was fading ....you cant beat an A4 in Edinburgh...pity it didnt sound a chime though.

PS was the fireman married or was that his bit of fluff? a bit naughty for 1948

PPS didnt you just love the Charles Hawtrey bigamist character with the syrup.....they dont make em like that any more

My thanks also for the post, we visited late last year after coming from Tweedbank (Shame we couldnt have gone Tweedmouth, St Boswells & Waverley) and climbed the steps to the auld toon had a few beers and made our way back, my mates mother didnt like the steps but it was a most excellent day out.
