Alan Costello : a tribute in photos

As i mentioned in a previous e-mail Alan Costello passed away in July, over the last 3 years he sent me a very large collection of his photos
i have decided to show some of his railtour photos in his memory
starting off with this collection from 1965 featuring Flying Scotsman

I can't believe he has departed. How sad. I worked with him in the mid 70s, and he was the most friendly chap anyone could ever come in contact with.
What was an amazing coincidence was that I moved away in 1978 but went to the Rocket 150 event at Rainhill. I was lucky in that my brother in law lived in Warrington, and his wife was manning a charity stand at the event. She gave me a lift to the station approach and I stood in the queue for the ticket office. Imagine my shock when the next person to arrive in the queue behind me was Alan.
Sadly we had seats in completely different stands, so we did not have much time to chat.
My condolences to his family and friends. One day, we will meet again Alan and can discuss railways forever.
