52D , Warrenby Halt closed during July 1978 , British Steel Redcar (halt) opened at this time with the re-route of the line , below is a photo taken from 'black bridge' (they're all black bridges after the bridge builder Black!) near Cowies garage showing construction of the line , swinging to the left over Coatham marsh , top right is Warrenby bridge with the line removed the bridge is still there but has been 'filled in'

correct in every way , I should think they 'selected' the best bits from both platforms and shelters , then re-arrected then in Newtondale then used the off cuts for fire lighting

it would be nice to see NYMR photos of this taking place.

a couple of years ago the waiting room from Barras (Stainmore route) was donated by the now land owner and was transported to Kirkby Stephen and is in store.

Newtondale halt is ex Warrenby, but not the platform shelter that is a new addition constructed by the NYMR funded by York Area Group.

thanks bryan , it would be nice if there was some photo's , heres another knock down and re-build again from the Darlington Saltburn line , the 4 cottages from the old Coatham station , now Majuba Road area ( from the days the railway terminated at Redcar Central -the original one- the new station was built and the line carried on to Saltburn ) were knocked down brick by brick and transported and rebuilt in Kirkleatham Village a couple of miles outside Redcar .....

Many thanks for the images Mr B,

as a youngster, our family got on the local DMU service at Redcar East Halt, and I can still remember the Cleveland Bay Pub Sign nearby. My childhood memories are of taking the service to visit my Grandad in Middlesbrough, and the route being a journey through the fires & smoke of the coke ovens & blast furnaces along the way.

Blue Star ships seem to have predominated the 'puddle between the tracks', that was Middlesbrough Docks at the time, and the Station was sadly dominated by a 1960s office block, which has now thankfully been removed, with heritage works returning Middlesbrough Station to some of its former glory. What chance, a replacement roof now, to parallel the work carried out at Pickering?

Good memories, and have crossed the odd Black Bridge in my time!

and something smaller 'Elizabeth' at Saltburn miniature railway,the loco is still alive working order stored at La'al Ratty ...
