The Thane of Fife picture shows a Thompson A2/3, not an A2/2. The full size deflectors and the original Thompson boiler (complete with round dome, rather than banjo dome) can both be seen, along with the flat fronted cab (the A2/2s had the V shaped cabs inherited from the P2s they were rebuilt from).
I think that is likely to be 60500 Edward Thompson, as seen here elsewhere on Flickr, if the number was presumed to be similar to 60505 of Thane of Fife. Certainly has all the correct details (round dome boiler, full deflectors, stovepipe chimney, smokebox numberplate in higher position). The locomotive in your photograph, however, has a shedcode plate without the SC (self cleaning) additional at the bottom.

If it is not 60500 it is possibly 60515 - I just need a photo of each (and others?) around that date.
Somewhere in the albums there must be a photo of the train with 60505, I've picked the wrong image notes without checking properly (again - more haste less speed.
Please do keep letting me know of errors and omissions, I can then amend my notes as well as the online images.

Astounding - E1312! I'm looking through my Yeadons and my RCTS volumes for the B1s and I can't find a hint of that livery variation on that particular locomotive. Great find that.
The other one with the light engine B1 and the Cambridge to KX train has an unusual clerestory coach as the third one in - any ideas what the type of that coach is?

The loco looks so clean in the photo, even the cab roof, that I suspect it must have been almost brand new (when it was allocated to Sheffield Darnall from 23/4/48).S.A.C. It must have been built just at the time when the numbering system was being sorted out. The LNER numbers seem to stop at 1303, then it is the BR numbering from 61304 according to brdatabase info. So if it was only the 9th built after the LNER numbers were no longer used by North British it may well have had the E prefix to start with.
I've no idea what the coach is, I'm certainly not an expert on LNER coaching stock.
