Good afternoon,
The second one shows a classic GN partnership of a 4-4-0 piloting a large Atlantic. I recall reading that this was common practice to get heavy expresses out of the 'Cross and out to Hatfield - note the GNR/ECJS clerestories in the train. I beleive this led to the construction of the A1s.
