Dickie Bridge, near Holgate Junction, York
I am looking for photographs showing this footbridge over the ECML, taken preferably from the south, as I wish to add this to my model of York. Dickie Bridge used to give access to a market garden owned by Mr Dickie and was located just to the south of Holgate Bridge (the iron bridge) on the old excursion platforms. It is the old bridge I am interested in, which was a lattice girder bridge type, not the new one.
This bridge spanned 6 running lines and was later extended to span the Holgate reception sidings when they were put in. It was a favourite location from which to take photographs of trains arriving or leaving York Station, but it seems the bridge itself has hardly ever been photographed. It does appear in Railway Memories No.1 and also No.5, but you can't see enough detail for modelling purposes.
Any help would be appreciated.

How 'old' is 'old' in this context?
I have a clear photo taken in the early-mid 1950's which includes part of the steps and railings on the racecourse side plus a lattice bridge with sides filled in spanning about three tracks. The rest obscured by coaches from the train being photographed.
If this is the correct bridge can someone please advise if I am-

(2) How?

69999,
Well the period is about right if there are no semaphore signals in evidence. We should not post photos from books that are still in copyright.
If your photograph is in a published book could you tell me which one and I can look for it in either my collection or the HMRS library, which is quite near where I live.

Re: Dickie Bridge, near Holgate Junction, York
I have now located three postcard photographs of the bridge taken from Holgate platform - racecourse side - in the 1950's. All three are of ex LNER pacifics heading south from York. One is taken from the south of the bridge - the one referred to above. Two are taken probably from underneath the bridge and show on the left hand side the ramp and abutments for the extension. These photographs were all taken by the late Cecil Ord a York photographer who died in the late 1960's. His collection of negatives passed to a Mr P Wilson in Darlington. A few years ago these negatives were split into numerous lots and sold through railwayana auctions.
I have a postcard photograph taken by Mr R A Panting on 3 August 1962 from Holgate platform on the north side of the bridge looking south which shows almost the full length including the extension. I am aware that Mr Panting disposed of his negatives many years ago.
The final image I have traced is included in 'The Book of the WD 2-8-0s and 2-10-0s' by Richard Derry published by Irwell Press in 2008. Page 148 shows an image taken from south of the bridge and includes nearly all of the six track span and part abutment for the extension.
Taken as a whole these postcards/images cover almost the whole of the bridge from both sides.
Clearly the latter image is copyright. I am not sure about the current status of the postcards.
I will be happy to post the postcards for the benefit of all if deemed appropriate by the 'management'.

69999,
I was hoping for photographs taken by the respondant,
I am afraid that we may not publish anything that is still copyright until it has expired.
The required term is 70 years:
6.Duration of copyright
The 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act states the duration of copyright as;
i.For literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works
70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the last remaining author of the work dies.
If the author is unknown, copyright will last for 70 years from end of the calendar year in which the work was created, although if it is made available to the public during that time, (by publication, authorised performance, broadcast, exhibition, etc.), then the duration will be 70 years from the end of the year that the work was first made available.

Its taken two years, but here at last are some pictures of my model based on Dickie Bridge at York.
There is a fully alphanumeric working theatre indicator with repeater to the rear with a 4 aspect signal and sub for the down main. The up main has a 4 aspect CLS with sequencer.

I well remember that bridge because the trainspotters used to climb on the signal structure to get a better view - on my photo below you can see two of them.

Pinza,
Yes that's the one. I still have to make the access platforms and I shall be sure to put a couple of train spotters up there.
69999 did identify a great photograph for me. It was in: 'The Book of the WD 2-8-0s and 2-10-0s' by Richard Derry published by Irwell Press in 2008. The photo is credited to AG Forsyth.
I was able to buy a print from the owner of the collection Initial Photographics.
Also, this one turned up: https://www.flickr.com/photos/90044439@N02/8240819331/
So, what did it say on that orange notice board?
