Circus trains/Blyth & Tyne

Post by BlythStationLad »

This is a long shot but... I've been reliably informed of the existence of a photo taken of a circus train between Newsham and Blyth in the 1950s. It's not a published photo, but if anyone on this august forum has it, or knows who has, I'd very much like to see it please!

I'm interested in any unpublished photos of the Blyth & Tyne, especially Blyth/Newsham/Hartley and Monkseaton...

How about this one I took at South Blyth sheds with my box brownie in 1966 at the age of 14.

You asked for Blyth & Tyne photos. I'm not sure if this counts, but it shows one of the staithes at North Blyth. I found it difficult to give an impression of the sheer scale so this is my attempt (April 1965).

Many thanks Sedgefield and 1H for the photos. Re David Hey's website, I'm the one building the N Gauge layout of Blyth!

Sedgefield, do you have any recollection of what appears to be large stone blocks in front of the engine shed? I have many views of South Blyth shed but none show any existence of these.
