Mystery Photos

Post by jwealleans »

I hope he doesn't mind me posting the link, but I was browsing Steve Banks' site and found a mystery photos page. I know how much we all like these and so I thought I'd draw everyone's attention to it. Sadly I wasn't able to help but the second one (2510) has a distinct air of familiarity about it.

Greenwood probably. I think that it is a Wethersett negative.

I agree. I've left SB feedback that I'm thinking 2510 could be on the Down Main at a popular photographic spot - leaving Hadley Wood North Tunnel, which would, if correct, mean that Ganwick signal box (or the site of it) would be about 100 yards behind the photographer's left shoulder.
Can't be sure though, even though growing up only about a mile from there.

The original might show more detail of the milepost on the right, which might confirm the location?

2510 is definitely at Hadley Wood, near Ganwick. Seen similar shots of 2510 there before.
