GC tank cab photos

Post by john coffin »

Silly request I know, but anyone have any photos inside any of the ex GC tank locos, ie N4/5 or f1/2 or C13/14.
I am trying to understand whether the poor old fireman had to lift the shovels of coal from the floor, or as appears on some of them, from a coal hole about 18 inches off the wooden footplate.

I am only looking to understand the way in which GC or ex GC firemen had to work the coal from bunker to firebox.
No one got an idea of the type of coal hole, or height of same?

I have a photo from a modelling magazine showing the construction of an 'O' gauge C13. Looking into the cab from above front to rear (cab roof not in position). Shows the shovelling plate very well. Assuming of course that the kit manufacturer has made it correctly in the first place! If you would like sight of this please pm me and I will scan it for you.
