Barrow Hill

Post by Deltic18 »

I had a little trip to Barrow Hill for the annual beer festival, which as per normal was excellent, and took these pics. I also managed to pick up a book entitled LNER Branch Lines 1945 - 1965 by C.J.Gammett. This is a rather excellent publication and is rather worthwhile.

I was there too, already have a copy of that book, bought about 30 years ago I think. The fiver you would have paid is a bargain. Sadly the same stand did not have any of the books that I accidentally gave to charity about 6 months ago...

I also meant to add: was 52D there as well? I noticed that 'tag' on one of the chalk boards inside the roundhouse - was tempted to change D to F.

Although only living a few miles away from Barrow Hill the thought of attending a beer festival and then driving home does not bear thinking about.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
