Re: Photos at Newbridge
Something to do with the date of design or build? Or maybe the LNER had some design input into the crane??

Re: Photos at Newbridge
Seeing the shot of the Newbridge steam crane reminded me of some excellent shots taken when both NYMR steam cranes were lifting a new concrete bridge beam into place, somewhere in Newtondale. I am sure that a member of the YAG took the pics, if the gentleman concerned is agreeable (sorry forgotten his name), any chance of a posting?

I know the photo you mean and I know the photographer. I have asked him for copies of any crane photos he has for using on our group website(address below) but no response todate but will keep trying.Seeing the shot of the Newbridge steam crane reminded me of some excellent shots taken when both NYMR steam cranes were lifting a new concrete bridge beam into place, somewhere in Newtondale.
The bridge concerned was actually 14 or 15 a mile or so north of Levisham. Both bridges were replaced with new concrete beams.
It was one of the reasons for the purchase of the ex KC crane. It was cheaper than hiring in a big enough crane to do the job and we kept the crane afterwards.
However the 2 together are not quite big enough to do this winters job at Br 30 so we will be using a KIROW I think from GRANTS or is it VOLKER Rail?
I believe it will be after new year for the actual bridge lifts.
