I don't know whether this has ever been posted here, but the ETH Zürich has a photo library with a lot of old pictures of locos as delivered from various British manufacturers to various railway companies, including the LNER and some of its constituents:

Don't worry about the SNCF at the beginning, the good stuff starts pretty soon afterwards. Unfortunately the descriptions are in German, but does it really matter? Enjoy!
