Stevenage 1957
An up fast freight bustling through Stevenage in 1957. I can't quite make out the number of the A2 in charge.
Re: Stevenage 1957
Ah yes giner Stevenage (old) station I believe the station was still gas lit right up until closure in June/July 1973 and from vague memory I believe I was on the station the evening it closed but to be honest it's getting a bit fuzzy to recall now for certain?. Also a fond memory of visiting Stevenage North box in the late summer of 1972 one warm and sunny afternoon for a couple of hours in the company of relief-signalman Mo Cantor who allowed me to pull a few signal levers and work on the block indicators & bells with Langley Junction & Hitchin South boxes.
Happy days...

Lovely, I can just picture it. I knew you'd like that photo.
Any thoughts on that A2? It looks like it's got a round dome. And I just spotted a bit of a cab in the up slow platform, A B1 or L1 perhaps. Not that it's a great photo to go on.
