J15s moved to Doncaster during WW2

A friend of mine is doing some research on the history of GER Y14s/LNER J15s and has the following query that he has been unable to answer anywhere else so I suggested the combined knowledge on this forum may be able to come up with an answer. His query is:
In October 1942 six GER J15s were transferred to Doncaster from East Anglia but not for overhaul. A couple were moved on to Barnsley a week or so later and similarly two went to Mexborough, each staying at their final destinations between two and six months. The other two returned fairly swiftly to March depot. Does anyone have any info on why they were needed in South Yorkshire?
Any help appreciated.
Regards
Steve
