North Eastern Tanks on Tour

A regular comment made is that North Eastern locomotives didn't get out of their Region much, and therefore won't have much appeal to railway modellers/collectors in other regions. In addition, the announcement of a GCR/BR D11 4-4-0, followed more recently by a GER/BR D16 4-4-0 may focus attention on similar wheel configurations to the loss of others.
Here in the North East, the Class G5 Locomotive Company have re-energised interest in the ubiquitous Worsdell O Class (G5) 0-4-4T North Eastern tank locomotive. BUT how many of us realise the complete allocation that covered operations in both the Great Eastern and Great North of Scotland regions?
Three locomotives, Nos 1889, 1914 & 2098 were allocated to the GNoS, with 2098 allocated to Eastfield (Glasgow); Kittybrewster (Aberdeen); Parkhead (Glasgow); Kittybrewster; Keith (Speyside); and Kittybrewster for a third time, all over approximately a sixteen year period (1939-1955).
Five locomotives, Nos 1769, 1780, 1882, 2093 & 441 allocated to the GE, with 2093 allocated first to Stratford, and then Cambridge, over an eighteen year period (1938-1956).
So I hope that when the likes of Bachmann & Hornby consider North Eastern locomotives for production, they emulate the Hornby Southern M7 0-4-4T, and elect for the North Eastern G5 0-4-4T for production, covering the Scottish, North Eastern, and Eastern regions, from the Moray Firth, to the Thames.
Any comments most welcomed!
