LNER OUTER SUBURBAN ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNITS

I have been doing research on the history of the former GE line from Shenfield to Southend. In my researches in the National Archives on the electrification of the line in the 1950s I read that the LNER intended extending the Shenfield electrification to Southend, Clacton and Ipswich although I could find nothing on this in the records of the LNER. Also in the files on the electrification of the former LTS lines there are diagrams dated about 1950 of 3 car internal gangwayed electric multiple units. I am wondering if these proposals, which included amongst other things one with a buffet car, originated with the LNER before the Second World War and had been intended for outer suburban and main line work on future electrifications of the GE lines and possibly for stopping services on the Manchester to Sheffield line.
