Livery on V1?v2 1923 -1947

Post by Graeme Leary »

I'm in the process of buying a V1 model (or V3 whichever is correct for the Big 4 era) and I'd be grateful for clarification of the livery/ies carried then. Were they only in Black or were some in the LNER Apple Green (or even Darlington Green) livery?
And which would have been correct for that period (V1 or V3) or would either be acceptable (and even more helpful would be a list of numbers under any of the 3 likely livery 'contenders' for this time.
Many thanks, in anticipation.

They were always black (lined red) apart from one example 7684 which was painted green in 1946 and survived in green as 67684 until 1949. Bachmann have produced the green loco in both LNER and BRITISH RAILWAYS liveries.

In wartime, any repaints omitted the lining.
