LNER Shed Allocations for the 1930s

Morning all!

There are numerous books on Shed Allocations but these usually date from 1948 onwards. Are there any LNER shed allocation books for 1935-1939?

K Hoole 'Rail Centres:Newcastle' has allocations for Gateshead, Heaton, Borough Gardens, Blaydon, and Bowes Bridge for 1923 and 1939. There is also a table (by class only) for Hexham, Alnmouth, Percy Main, Tyne Dock, and Durham.

I have used the lists in the Whitehouse and St John Thomas 'LNER 150' to compile a searchable database for 11th January 1947 for the North Eastern Area sheds, but I presume that this wouldn't help you because it was after the great consolidations of classes in early wartime.

I find that the RCTS Green books give me the detail for individual classes when I want, but it would be quite a labour of love to use them to compile them into shed allocations, although probably possible given a little time and motivation!

Yeadon list by class , would work out a tad expensive

The RCTS Railway observer and supplements had allocation details for that period. The LNER 150 list came from that source originally.

Ideally everything between Edinburgh and Kings Cross. Railway Observer maybe worth a look. I do have most Yeadon's which helps for the larger named locos, but requires more looking for smaller classes.

The North Eastern Area allocations are covered in the RO for Jan, Feb and March 1939. This covers York, Darlington, Gateshead and Heaton of the ECML sheds as at 1/1/1939.

There is an RO for the whole of 1939 on eBay at £30. Might grab it.

The RCTS do a series of digital copies the RO in yearly volumes on disc. I cannot remember if you have to be a member to buy them.

The ebay price seems high, the VCT shop at Ingrow sells 1930s ROs rather cheaper than that, but you have to take pot-luck with what they have, they generally have more from the 1950s onwards.
