J21/5 drawing

Post by 60044 »

Is anyone able to help me out with a reasonable drawing of an LNER J21 or J25 please? I'm thinking of building one in G1.

I can fix you up with a J21 drawing and possibly the J25. If you want perfectionl, go to the NRM and look up the GA and Detail drawings. Mick.

No, not looking for perfection. A J24 would be another alternative - I just want a small NER 0-6-0 tender engine and all three of these look very similar to my untutored eye!

There is a complete drawing in K Hoole 'Illustrated History of NER Locomotives', although it is of the NER Class C in it's original compound form. The J21 (as under the LNER) has larger 5'1" wheels than the J25 (NER P1) which has only 4'7". Also, unless you were on the GWR in wartime, you wouldn't have a seen J25 hauling a passenger train. The majority of the 201 J21s were equipped with automatic train braking - either Westinghouse, Westinghouse and Vacuum, or in later days Steam and Vacuum. There are quite a lot of variations over their sixty year life.
