D11's at Grantham

Post by workev »

Would anybody know the last time D11's would have been seen at Grantham. I think they were common in the 1930s, but I wonder when the last visit was?

I think these were shedded at Lincoln and Boston, but wondered whether they were just for Lincoln-Nottingham workings?

By 1957 there were five of the class at Lincoln but these went to Sheffield (Darnall) in March of that year. When at Lincoln they worked to Nottingham and Derby over the former Midland route. This would mean that they would be seen at Newark rather than Grantham. There is a 1955 photo of 62663 leaving Trent on a Lincoln-Derby train in RCTS 3B.
