Urchin spotters
I thought id post this pic showing 4 lucky Berwick spotters after having had a tour round 52D. Note the attire not an anorak or binoculars in sight but check out the school boy caps and the gas mask haversack for egg and tomato sandwiches. Year is 1958 not sure what No.9 was doing in Tweedmouth unless it had brought in an Edinburgh Berwick local.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

I have their names and they still maintain an interest in railways.

I had to look twice to check if one was me!! For me though, would be year 1960, location 52A. Mind you, I never had an escorted tour - several times I was escorted off the premises, which was slightly different. Routine for bunking 52A was West end, up the ash-heap, East end from Gateshead East station and if there was a lot of locos on the scrap lines - over the wall in Askew Road. Oh, happy days!!

PP, I have the unenviable record of having been forcibly ejected from every railway installation in West Yorkshire in the early 1980s!

As I told Blackout the other day "You'll have to wait!!! I'm still on the sick" (7 weeks now - Sciatica)52D wrote:Been talking to BB today hes still waiting for a parcel.Postman Prat wrote:Only West Yorkshire.................?
Anyway, if it's the parcel you were on about the other day I told you "It's too big for the van, I'll leave a card and he'll have to go to the office to collect it". I'm not putting myself out - He's from Yorkshire and you don't get xmas tips from Yorkshiremen!!! The only tip they'll give you is the name of a 3 legged donkey, running(?) at Thirsk or Wetherby!!!!
