Gas Lighting Drawings

Has anyone ever come across any drawings relating to the gas lighting fittings used by the GNR in clerestorey-roofed carriages around the late 1890s that they could point me in the direction of? The LNERCA is trying to get the restoration of ECJS 189 under way and the fittings in this are a very notable feature that we would want to reproduce, albeit with modern "gas effect" bulbs. I think the GNR used the Pintsch system but cannot be certain of this - all help gratefully accepted!

So far, we haven't found any drawings relating to 189 or its near identical GNR counterparts, so any help finding the0se would be invaluable too.

Have you tried the GNR Society?

They keep a number of records, photos and drawings....

You can contact them via:

Thanks for the suggestion. I've put an inquiry in, will wait to see what comes of it. I've also been told that the M&GNRPS have installed replica gas lighting in their Wisbech & Upwell car, so I'm trying to find out about that.

If you search for 'gas' in the NRM Search Engine PDF of Doncaster Carriage Drawings you will find several references:

Also the M&GN Circle has an extensive collection of drawings, see here:
