GCR Workings - Ruddington Area late 1950's to closure

Good afternoon,

Can anyone provide information or have photographs of traffic along the GCR mainline through Ruddington?
The period I am interested in would be late 1950's to closure.
If this has been covered elsewhere, I apologise, but please advise.

Some good photos in "Great Central Remembered" and "Last days of the Great Central". Can't remember the authors, but a Google search should turn up trumps.

Many thanks for that, Manxman 1831 !
I have one of these titles on loan from the library and the other one I have recently ordered via a booksearch shop.

My own memories go back to mostly 9F's on what seemed to youthful eyes, endless "Windcutters"
Britannias on the "Fish Freight?" Black Fives, V2's, Jubilees, Royal Scot's 8F's etc etc. A Bournemouth - York (?) service (green coaches) mostly Diesel (Brush type 4?)
I would like to try and find out if records exist showing what actual engines worked these services, perhaps someone recorded them?
My own notes were unfortunately lost years ago.........

Most of the photographs that I have seen in print seem to show either Nottingham Victoria, East Leake or Loughborough, but not many around the Ruddington area.

There are some photos on my flickr site taken by my father and myself - we lived in Nottingham and East Leake at various times. They are at:

and

I do have some more to scan when I get time.

Hope they are of interest.

David

Absolutely fantastic David,

I used to frequent a lot of these locations too.
My own parents lived in East Leake and I recognise the location of the colour picture of the 9F at East Leake Tunnel (Barnston Tunnel?)
After closure my Father & I would walk all the way along the trackbed through this Tunnel to Loughborough.

Many thanks for sharing....

Was there any military traffic?
I ask because during late 70s - early 80s I was at Ruddington a couple of times delivering withdrawn army vehicles for disposal.
