B16 Subtype Differences
I know what the basic differences are between the different subtypes of B16; but what were the outward physical differences between the B16/2 and /3? Aside from numbers, that is.

The B16/2 was RHD and the B16/3 was LHD. (You can tell from the side that the ejector pipe passes along the boiler). Otherwise you have to look closely at the cylinders to see the 2:1 gear behind the valve chests. The covers over the expansion links on part 2 were deeper.

Re: B16 Subtype Differences
Ah, thank you. I wasn't sure if the LHD/RHD thing was straight accross the board for each subtype.
I know the B16/2 needed to have the leading bogie further forward, and thus had longer frames. I'm assuming the /3 used these same frame dimentions and bogie placement?

Re: B16 Subtype Differences
In most respects parts 2 & 3 were otherwise identical - new cab, front bogie moved forward. Thompson simply replaced the 2 to 1 gear with a set of inside valve gear.
