Nameplate Fonts

Does anyone have any info on the following fonts

A1/3 Both styles reqd

B17 again both styles

also numberplate fonts Gill Sans and the 'curly tail 6 and 9

I have 'Nameplates of the big 4' but it only gives a certain amount of info

Normally I would remark that they are not 'fonts' but 'typefaces', however save for Gill Sans the letter and number shapes were generally produced 'in-house', those for cast name- and number-plates typically being cut from wood and used to form the shape in the casting mould.

What is it that you are actually wanting? Is it a suitable word-processing 'font' to reproduce them? If you are after them to apply to a model then you would be better served going to one of the suppliers of etched plates.

JKust interested in drwing up a complete set of B17 plates. from the info in 'Nameplates of the big four' the lettring appears similar on both classes. so really i need an A-Z of each to compare the differences

Mr Fox, Slightly off topic but NER numbers are illustrated in Ken Hooles Locomotives of the NER in one of the appendicies. I wonder if they influenced the curly 6 & 9s.
