J77 cab roof colour

Post by 52D »

The ex NER locos of a certain era had rounded cab roofs with no gutters or other appendicies for reference to paint by in particular im thinking of the J77 0-6-0T. How was the painting applied to these locos in the NER green era, was the roof left green or was there an attempt to paint the roofs black. After the grouping i presume they were all over black.

Ay up!

Looking at the Tennant 2-4-0 in the NRM, painted as such when memories of NER liveries were fresh, I'd say the roof was over-all green.

Just a thought....
