Hi, Since last May, I have now built my D16 in Gauge 3 (15.5mm ). I would now like to paint it in GE green (pre-grouping) .Can anyone help please with any colour pictures ofv that era, to help me with liveries.?
Thanks in anticipation.
Jim

Ay up, Jim.
The GE painted its engines blue, I'm afraid. Follow this link: http://www.lner.info/locos/D/d14d15d16.shtml for details.

Jim,
The short answer is that you don't - paint it in GE green that is - rather in lined GE blue for pre-Grouping.
However I think I am correct in stating that the classification D16 was introduced by the LNER in 1923, being the first rebuild of the D15 (GER class H88), so would never have carried GER livery.

Ay up!
It could always be painted in LNER green. The lining pattern on GE tenders followed the old GE style with rounded corners to the outer panel, unlike every other design. Stratford Green?
EDIT: I could be opening a whole new can of worms here: all paint for the LNER was supplied by Williamson's of Ripon who supplied the same colour to all Works, despite what a previous owner of a certain A3 claimed....
