Looking to treat myself with a book on the NER's rolling stock - goods especially. Would I be right in thinking the North Eastern Record Volume 2 is the one I want, or can anyone reccomend another title?

That is the set I have.

NER Record v2 & v2 are regularly on sale - the NERA are trying to clear old stock. It has coverage of older rolling stock, liveries, coaches, etc.

Tatlow's book is perhaps better organised if you are looking for a particular wagon type, but only covers those that entered LNER ownership and has less on liveries, etc.

Sadler is a very thin book, but probably the most definitive book on the brakevans.

Private Owner Wagons of the North-East : Volume 1, The Chaldrons (John A Elliott, Chilton Iron Works, 1994), is also very useful. Has there ever been a Volume 2?

John.

Actually I have that one too - yes very useful if you're into chaldrons.
Mainly PO but the NER P1 and P2 are in there.

My understanding is that there was never a v2. Probably too specialised. v1 is pretty scarce, although it isn't too pricey (indicating it probably isn't in high demand).
