Hello, I'm currently working on developing a fictional alternate universe history for one of Robinson's unbuilt locomotive designs, specifically the 1911 Manchester-Sheffield route Pacific 4-6-2 as a Smith three cylinder compound with .G.C.R. Class 8J style Walschaerts valve gear. However I'm stuck as to which barrel length would be more appropriate for such a locomotive and why: the original 15' or the later more common 19'/20' (.L.N.E.R./L.M.S.). Any help would be greatfully recievced and will be fully credited.
