Ex GNR CCTs

This is by way of being a bit of a long shot, but somebody may know the answer.

The GNR and LNER had a few rented 'private owner' Carriage Trucks. Windovers the coach maker was one and Tuby the amusement proprietors was another. I have additionally seen a part of a photograph taken at Nottingham by Gordon Hepburn which shows what appears to be a Diagram 360 or 364 CCT in what I have assumed is Dark Blue livery with white writing branded for Players Ciagette traffic to and from Nottingham.

Anyone come across this or seen a similar photo?

The link with Players and Nottigham is quite logical and the CCT could well have brought raw tobacco from bonded store either in London or Bristol.

I've only seen the Windover vehicle as far as I recall, Nick - have photos of any of the others been published?

Ay up!

Forgive my ignoramce here, but is this anything like the famous Palethorpes snorker vans, so beloved of modellers and of blessed memory?

OK, these were GWR but is it the same sort of arrangement?

I think that the difference with the sausage vans was that they were built by the GWR and LMS for that traffic and so branded.

There were some standard vans that were marked in the GC diagram book as 'bonded' and used for the Players traffic. These were originally GC 16' vans but were replaced after the grouping by LNER standards. There is a photo of one in George Dow's Great Central Album? in Players livery.

Thanks Bill. Must be in GC Vol3 as it is not in the Album, but it follows and makes sense. I am sure that the one I have seen in part was a GN vehicle.
