Could anybody please advise the original livery for LNER 4492 Dominion of New Zealand (ie not the British Railways livery it operated under after Nationalisation). I am planning to paint a model A4 locomotive and tender and want ot get the colour/livery correct. If available, a colour photograph would also be appreciated. Many thanks.

It was Garter Blue, with the stainless steel trim on tender and locomotive valances, with coronation red wheelsets throughout, and stainless steel numerals on the cabsides with coronation red backed nameplates. Under the numbers on the cabsides, were the crests of the Dominion of New Zealand. Lastly, it had a single chimney (unlike Bittern who has a double chimney while masquerading as her long lost sister), and a corridor tender.

The point worth watching with the original livery of 4492 is that it had one of the streamline corridor tenders so that the cab roof was black only down to a point which matched the top of the tender sides - the other Coronation A4's with the recycled A3 corridor tenders had black roofs down to the bottom edge to match the beading on the tender.
Also do not forget the teak sliding lights in the cab side windows.
The nameplates were actually chromium plated brass and in the case of 4492 in two parts.

Many thanks to those who replied to my query about original LNER livery on The Dominion of New Zealand, and in particular the information about the single chimney, the streamline corridor tender and the nameplate and number details.
All this will (hopefully) make my repainted A4 model more accurate and true to the original.
