Colombo recently sent a copy of a photo of a Midland Railway snowplough built in
1909 for use at Hellifield on the S and C.
Looking at the photo I cannot help but notice the similarities between it and the NER built ploughs. Ignoring the fact that it is built on a bogied tender frame you could mistake it for an NER plough.
This raises a question. Did the MR contract the NER to build a pair of ploughs on supplied bogies?
Or did the MR copy the drawings as the Southern Railway did for Plough 17 in about 1949?
Can anybody provide an answer?

This was certainly Not the case. The style of independent snowplough was in general terms of design used by a number of railway companies and although they may have looked generally the same there were detailed differences.
There are obscure references to such equipment but these are not easily rererenced.
